BOOK ONTO A WORKSHOP

Why 6+ months old?

A lot of people rescue dogs older than a year or they start to have struggles with their dog later on in life due to adolescence or cognitive decline. It is hard to find a class for dogs older than 6 months, so most of my classes are designed for dogs older than 6 months to provide a safe space which doesn't focus on the young'uns!

There are LOTS of great puppy classes throughout Plymouth. If you want some recommendations, pop me a message and I would be happy to direct you to other, qualified trainers who offer those services.

Specific Training

The weekly sessions give you fun training techniques to help you with the focus of the workshop, whether it's recall, loose lead walking or other.

Is your dog reactive?

Reactivity does not necessarily mean your dog is aggressive. A reactive dog can include those who get so excited by something in their environment, they completely ignoring you and everything else. Reactive dogs are highly likely, but not always, to have an emotional response driving their behaviours. This means we have to get to the bottom of why they are having that emotional response and come up with ways to tackle it, so that they can more easily respond to you.

If you have a reactive dog or think you do, you need to attend a reactivity workshop first, before you can attend other workshops. This is for the safety of your own dog! If you want to work on recall, you aren't going to get it unless you can break through the emotional response first.

What do I need to bring?

  • Your dog
  • LOTS of different food (high value and low value)
  • Toys
  • Water bowl for your vehicle (training is thirsty work)
  • Harness and lead
  • Notebook (if you want to make notes)

Notes on workshops

All workshops:

  • At least one adult is required to attend the workshop with their dog.
  • Children are welcome but you should contact me before the workshop to ensure I am aware, except Reactivity Workshops where children under the age of 18 are not allowed to attend for safety reasons.
  • Your dog should be brought in a vehicle and be able to settle for at least 10 minutes. If this is not possible, contact me before booking.

I don't see a workshop I like...

Let me know! I want to offer what my clients need, so pop me an email or message to let me know what workshops you want!

Definitions:

Client - the owner who is responsible for their dog or dogs attending a Workshop.

Workshop - refers to four or six consecutive sessions attended by the Client. A session can be one and a half hours, one hour, 45 minutes or 30 minutes long.

  1. The Client is solely responsible for any and all harm or damage caused by their dog while it is under the care of Dogological, or is using any other services provided by Dogological, and agrees to indemnify Dogological services in full against any liability arising from such harm or damage to third parties.
  2. Dogological reserves the right to refuse admission to any dog deemed in their absolute discretion to be, or have the potential to be, dangerous or disruptive.
  3. The Client agrees to notify Dogological immediately of any unwelcome, aggressive, procreative, or dangerous behaviour of their dog that has potential to cause harm to any other dog or individual.
  4. The Client agrees that, in admitting their dog for Dogological Workshops, Dogological has relied on the Client’s representation that their dog is in good health and has declared any aggression or threatening behaviour toward any person or any other dog.
  5. The Client is responsible for the full cost of treatment of any injuries or illness that their dog receives while under the care of Dogological in a Workshop, together with any association costs e.g. call-out charges. The Client authorises the staff of Dogological to seek such veterinary advice and/or treatment as they deem necessary; where possible this will be carried out by the Client’s usual/preferred Vet, but this cannot be guaranteed (e.g. in an emergency) and the Client accepts that the staff of Dogological may, at their discretion, use any registered Vet. The Client agrees to pay all such costs immediately upon pick-up of their dog, or by agreement with the proprietor.
  6. Dogological reserves the right to refuse admission if the Client fails to provide adequate proof of vaccinations, or the vaccinations are found to be expired or otherwise incomplete or proof of annual titre testing showing their dog does not require vaccinations.
  7. The Client accepts that even though their dog is vaccinated against Bordotella (Kennel Cough), there is a chance that their dog can still contract Kennel Cough. The Client agrees that they will not hold Dogological responsible if their dog contracts Kennel Cough while attending a Workshop.
  8. Bitches may not attend Dogological Workshop while in season or pregnant unless Dogological provides written consent to allow their attendance prior to the next Workshop. Dogological reserves the right to refuse admission if these criteria are not met.
  9. The Client agrees to take any necessary measures or precautions to ensure that their dog is continuously free of contagious, infectious, or otherwise communicable diseases. The Client further agrees to notify Dogological immediately of any infectious and/or contagious disease or conditions their dog has been exposed to or is affected by. Such diseases and conditions include, but are not limited to: Distemper, Hepatitis, Kennel Cough (Bordetella), Parvovirus, Corona virus, worms, Lyme disease, Fleas, Pregnancy, Infectious Skin Diseases and Intestinal Parasites. Dogological reserves the right to refuse admission until satisfied that the condition is resolved.
  10. The Client consents to their dog being photographed, videotaped, and/or used in any media or advertising by Dogological without prior approval. All such media remain the property of Dogological.
  11. The Client agrees that Dogological is not responsible for any lost, stolen, or damaged leads, collars, tags, clothing or any other item left with their dog.
  12. The Client agrees that, by making payment for a workshop, this will indemnify Dogological in full against any liability arising from loss or damage to the property or its contents, in present and future circumstances.
  13. The fee for any Workshop is required before the Workshop starts.
  14. The Workshop will not take place until payment has been received.
